Elliott Schon scored with four minutes left in the third period to snap a 4-4 game and give Cherry Hill East a 5-4 win over Cherokee in the JVA Championship game played on Sunday night in Voorhees. John Gallen led the East offense with two goals. Cherry Hill built a 3-0 lead on two first period goals by Gallen and a power play goal by Tristan Laperriere with four minutes left in the second period. The Chiefs came storming back scoring two goals in a span of twenty seconds with Justin Sroczyk and Michael Klemm getting the goals and Cherokee was back in the game at 3-2 after two.
East would capitalize on the power play early in the third period with Joseph Pearson scoring and a 4-2 lead. Midway through the period Colin Devine got the Chiefs to within 4-3 and two minutes later Connor Ray broke down the left side and scored short-handed to tie the game at 4-4. Schon would score the game winner from down low and East held on despite Cherokee pulling the goalie in the final minute. Congratulations to Cherry Hill East coach Ron Tracy and the entire organization.
