With the second season upon us the SJHSIHL begins it’s double elimination tournament on Monday so we thought we would break down to see exactly who is peaking and who is struggling. Let’s begin with the Eastern Vikings. Tough year for Mike Pontonio to come out of retirement having coached teams in the past to multiple championships, the Vikings did not win a game this season, but in speaking to Coach Pontonio it was not for lack of effort. Don’t see Eastern advancing.

Not to forget about the other Tier, the five teams that form the Tier III division are Cherry Hill West, Mainland, Lower Cape May, Egg Harbor Township and Vineland. These teams are not pure, meaning they could have players that live in the area of the school but don’t necessarily attend that school. For those fans of these teams we are also testing out a Complete Player Award for this level as well. Same rules apply. Here is how it will work; you must be registered to the site in order to vote. One vote per member, please. Voting will end on Saturday, February 19, 2011. Remember you are voting for the player that you feel is the best all-around player in Tier III. To vote you will click on the Poll Questions link on the front page.

Robert Willwerth had three goals and three assists and Vince Tascione added a hat trick as Shawnee breezed to an 11-3 win over Cherry Hill East in action played at Hollydell on Friday night. The game was originally scheduled at Voorhees for 9:30 but the league moved the Township-Clearview game to that slot and forcibly requested that East-Shawnee play at Hollydell. Unfortunately for East there was a school function and most of the team would have made the 9:30 time, but with the move only 8 players were available.
