Mike Moss scored five goals as Kingsway continued its season ending run with a 10-4 win over Egg Harbor Township. Vinnie Salerno added two goals; Phil Kovalesky led EHT with two goals. The teams were tied 3-3 after one period as Travis Tuthill and DJ Haney scored goals in the first minutes of the game for a 2-0 lead for EHT. Kingsway would score the next three as Moss with two, five minutes apart and Joe Bene late would make it 3-2 Kingsway. Kovalesky would knot the score at 3-3 in the final minutes and we were 3-3 after one.

Nicholas Simonetti scored three goals and Austin Ponzetti added two as Shawnee defeated Lower Cape May 6-1 and capture the JVB2 Championship. The teams were tied at 1-1 after the first period with Ponzetti scoring one minute into the game and Lower Cape May getting the equalizer in the final ninety seconds on a goal by Ryan Hill. Simonetti and Ponzetti scored second period goals to give Shawnee a 3-1 lead and they never looked back. Brian Guzzi would not surrender another goal and two goals by Simonetti and a power play goal by Stephen Forni in the third period closed out the scoring.
Anthony Carite had a hat trick, including two goals in the third period as St Joe’s won the JVB title with a 6-3 win over Mainland. Mainland led 2-1 after the first period on goals by Ron Garofalo sandwiched around one by Kevin Troy. Carite scored the only goal of the second period to send the game tied at 2-2 into the third period. Collin Oncay scored an unassisted goal midway through the period to give St Joe’s a 3-2 lead.
Trevor Ligeikis scored twice as Cherokee built a 3-0 lead and held on to defeat Washington Township 3-1 and capture the JVA Title. Township failed to capitalize on seven power play opportunities and despite being the top seed and suffering only one loss during the regular season, Cherokee will wear the crown. The Chiefs jumped out early in the first period as Mike Smith scored in the first three minutes. Ligeikis added a power play goal for a 2-0 lead, late in the period and Township had an uphill battle.
Colin Donahue had a hat trick and Jarryd Hill added two goals as Lower Cape May advanced to the JVB Title game by doubling up Clearview B 6-3 in playoff action on Sunday night. Thomas Beeby stopped 26 shots for the win. Lower Cape led 3-1 after the first period with Hill scoring the first two goals of the game in the opening eight minutes. Nathan Smith got Clearview on the board with one minute left in the period but a goal by Donahue in the final twenty seconds pushed the lead back to two at 3-1.
Matt Smith scored two goals, including his second straight game winner, this one coming with five minutes left in the game as Kingsway defeated Egg Harbor Township 7-6 and stayed alive in the double elimination tournament. Christian Raymond scored all six goals for EHT. Dom Salerno and Mike Moss added two goals each for Kingsway. The game was a seesaw affair with EHT taking a 3-2 lead after one on three goals by Raymond and Kingsway getting goals from Moss and Salerno.
Brandon Balsama scored with three minutes left in the first overtime as Washington Township kept its championship hopes alive with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Clearview before a packed house at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The two teams will meet on Thursday night to decide the champion. From the start the game was tightly played with neither team wanting to make that first mistake. Both goaltenders were outstanding, with Zachary Burkhardt only surrendering a penalty shot goal and Max Ramos stopping 28 shots. The lone goal of the first period was scored on a deflection by Matt Kammerer on a shot by Jarret Strickon with just forty seconds left in the period.
Ryan McMahon stopped all 25 shots and Tyler Juzwiak and Nathan Harring scored two goals each as Mainland pulled away from EEW 7-0 to win the National division Championship in a strong performance at the Skate Zone on Monday evening. Juzwiak scored both goals of the first period, one in the opening thirty seconds and one in the final two minutes. Both teams were a little chippy and combined for 12 penalties. EEW had four power play opportunities and failed to capitalize. Goals by Harring and Frank Christy in the second period doubled the lead to 4-0 after two.
Paul Petrongolo scored two goals and Aiden Rogers stopped 26 shots as St Joe’s defeated Riverfront for the Olympic division Championship game played on Friday night at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. It was the second title in a row for St Joe’s. Petrongolo opened the scoring in the first two minutes of the game with Trevor Rucci getting the helper. Riverfront wasted little time in getting the equalizer as Tristan Tilghman tied the score thirty seconds later. Defenseman Rocky DeMas would give Riverfront a 2-1 lead just over two minutes later as he scored an unassisted goal. Goals by Rucci and Petrongolo on the power play, in the final two minutes of the period gave St Joe’s a 3-2 lead heading into the second period.
Zachary Burkhardt stopped 20 shots as Washington Township eliminated Moorestown 2-0 in the SJHSIHL Varsity Playoffs. Township will now move on and face Clearview in the Championship round. Township must beat Clearview twice in order to win the title as the View has not suffered a loss in the double elimination tournament. Burkhardt continued his mastery over Moorestown, which was coming off a record setting performance in eliminating Cherokee on Monday night.
