EEW - Eastern, Cherry Hill East & Cherry Hill West 2014-2015
Jordan Hoeft scored on two breakaways as EEW upset Clearview 5-3 in early game action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Michael Verdecchio stopped 23 shots for the EEW. Clearview jumped out early as Anthony Dellerose scored a power play goal just four minutes into the game. Just about two minutes later Justin Bryan would convert a pass from Sam Amon to tie the game at 1-1; it was Bryan’s tenth of the season. Robert Penrod would get a goal in the final three minutes to give Clearview a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

Jesse Viggiano had two goals and two assists to help lead EEW over Williamstown 7-0 on Monday night at Voorhees. Williamstown could only muster 7 shots on goal and Mike Verdecchio stopped all seven for his first shutout of the season. Max Guralnick added two goals for the EEW. Viggiano set-up Guralnick five minutes into the game as the EEW led 1-0. Viggiano would score the next two goals in a fourteen second span, late in the period and the EEW led 3-0 after one period.
Jesse Viggiano scored a goal to snap a 2-2 game with just ninety one seconds left as EEW defeated Cinnaminson 3-2 in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. EEW dominated play, controlling the puck and creating numerous scoring chances, but Cinnaminson goalie Steve San Martin was outstanding and until Viggiano scored it looked like the Pirates were going to steal a point.
Eastern Vikings began a tradition a few years ago where the Wednesday before Thanksgiving they invite former players to unite and play a scrimmage game against each other. Organized by former head coach Mike Pontonio and team manager Bill Flower the game has been well attended and this year was no different than in the past with close to 40 former Vikings coming from all over the state put that Viking jersey on, one more time. Some of the players have lost a step or two, although a few of the old timers looked like they could suit up today and play, like Anthony Orner.
Sam Amon had four goals to lead EEW over Shawnee 7-3 in a match-up of National division teams. EEW scored six of their goals in the first period and never looked back. Alex Deitch opened the scoring just two minutes into the game connecting for his fourth goal of the year. EEW would break open the game scoring four goals in less than three minutes. Amon would get his first of the night with just under seven minutes left in the period.
Justin Bryan had two goals and one assist and Sam Amon added a goal and two assists as EEW defeated Shawnee 5-1. EEW led 2-0 after one period as Bryan and Amon would score goals early and late in the period. EEW would double their lead to 4-0 on goals by Jordan Hoeft and Alex Dietch midway through the second period as both goals would come eleven seconds apart.
Five different players scored goals and Kris Burke stopped 19 shots as Washington Township defeated EEW 5-2 in JVA action. Eric Sailor got things going for the Minutemen scoring a goal with five minutes left in the opening period. Braden Hawcroft would tie the score at 1-1 scoring for EEW just over one minute later. Burke kept Township in the game in the first period as EEW had several opportunities on the power play but Burke stood tall. Second period goals by Joe Chandler and a short-handed goal by Jeff Horner put Township on top 3-1 after two periods.
Trevor Rucci scored three goals including the game winner with four minutes left as St Joe’s defeated EEW 7-6 in cross-over action played at Hollydell. Sam Amon had a hat trick for EEW to lead them in scoring. The game was back and forth all night with Rucci opening the scoring just over two minutes into the game. Amon would tie the score on the power play midway through the period. Alex Eberly would connect on the power play for St Joe’s with just over three minutes left, but EEW would get the equalizer as Jordan Hoeft scored with about one minute remaining in the first.
Justin Bryan had three goals and assisted on two others as EEW handled Clearview III 7-1 in cross-over action played at Hollydell. Leading just 1-0 after one period on Bryan’s second goal of the season, EEW would score three times in the second period to take control of the game. Right off the opening face-off Jordan Hoeft made it 2-0 with Bryan setting up the goal with a nice pass down low. Less than two minutes later the lead was 3-0 as Bryan scored again with Hoeft and Sam Amon getting the helpers.
