Eastern trailed 4-1 early into the second period, but staged a rally and defeated rival Cherokee 6-5 in the semi-final game in the Flyers Cup played at Voorhees. Coach Zuber would probably prefer his team not fall behind early, but it’s how you finish that counts. Just like the first round game against Township where they trailed by 4-0, Eastern kept working. Jeremy Ambrose would give Cherokee a 1-0 lead early in the game and a power play goal by Jake Frankenfield had the lead to 2-0 after one period. Connor Riley put the Vikings on the board early in the second period, but goals by Sam Berger and Dustin Patterson had the lead to 4-1.
Jeremy Ambrose scored four goals and Jake Frankenfield added three as Cherokee defeated Egg Harbor Township 8-2 in Flyers Cup action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Sam Libetti assisted on five of the eight goals. It took about eleven minutes for the Chiefs offense to get going, but Ambrose and Libetti would combine on the first goal late in the period. Continuing on the same shift Libetti would once again set-up Ambrose and Cherokee took a 2-0 lead into the second period. Early in the period with the Chiefs on the power play, Frankenfield would go end-to-end and circle around the net and fire a shot that found the long side and a 3-0 lead.
Trailing 4-0 midway through the second period, things did not look good for Eastern, but to their credit they kept firing the puck, 42 shots in all and would chip away at the lead and with less than one minute left in overtime Kristopher Zapata would deposit the game winner past Matt Lynch and the Vikings would escape with a 5-4 win in the opening round of the NJ/DE Flyers Cup. Jordan Stein led the Vikings with two goals. Township would build their lead initially taking advantage of the power play, as five minutes into the game Anthony Lonasco working behind the net, found CJ Castorina out front and his quick shot found the net and a 1-0 lead for Township.
Egg Harbor Township has waited a long time to participate in the Flyers Cup and they made the most of their first time as they defeated Shawnee 6-4 in action played at the Voorhees Skate Zone. William Bahnak led the offense with two goals. Shawnee led 3-1 after the first period on goals by Dave Hoftiezer, Anthony Poppalardo and Babik. EHT would get a power play goal from Ryan Robertson. The second period was all EHT as they would score three goals in a two minute span to take the lead. Blaze Tommi would get them to within 3-2 at the seven minute mark and thirty seconds later Dylan Faulhaber would tie the game at 3-3.
Brendan Forrest scored one minute into the overtime period to give the Cherokee Chiefs a 3-2 win over Cherry Hill East in the JVA championship game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The game was a very tight checking, intense contest where neither team could gain an advantage. Brian Cutler would give Cherry Hill a 1-0 lead in the first but goals by Kameron Katsanos and Connor Ray gave the Chiefs a 2-1 lead late in the second period. Cutler would put home his second of the night late in the period and we were tied at 2-2.

The game was interesting as neither team would score in the opening period. And in the second period they would combine for six goals. Jordan Stein would give Cherry Hill a 1-0 lead in the opening minute of the second period. James Vona and Cutler would score the next two goals as East took a 2-1 lead.
